How Amazon screens resumes

Corporate applications to Amazon go through its own site, amazon.jobs, with no third-party applicant tracking system (ATS) in view. Amazon does not accept cover letters, so your resume carries the whole application. You can apply and interview for at most 10 roles at a time.

How we know which system: Applications stay on amazon.jobs, and no Greenhouse board exists under Amazon's slug (job-boards.greenhouse.io/amazon returns 404). Checked on Amazon’s careers site on 2026-10-15. An employer can change system without announcing it, so treat the date as the limit of this claim.

Before you apply to Amazon: 6 checks

Each one comes from what the company itself publishes. The sources are further down.

  1. Check the basic qualifications. Amazon says preferred ones are not required to apply.
  2. Make sure each basic qualification you meet is easy to find on your resume.
  3. Do not write a cover letter. Amazon says it does not accept them.
  4. Add links to public work samples, as Amazon suggests.
  5. Rewrite bullets to show what you did yourself: "I", not "we".
  6. Count your open applications. Amazon allows a maximum of 10 roles at a time.

Amazon's hiring steps, in order

  1. Online application

    Apply on amazon.jobs. Hourly warehouse roles use hiring.amazon.com instead.

  2. Assessments

    Some roles include an online assessment or job-related exercise.

  3. Phone screening

    Behavioral questions guided by the Leadership Principles, plus technical questions for some roles.

  4. Interview loop

    Usually two to seven interviewers, about 45–60 minutes each, often including a Bar Raiser from another team.

  5. Decision

    Amazon says you can expect to hear back within five business days of the loop.
